North of Logan there are many wonderful little communities. They include North Logan, Hyde Park, Smithfield, Richmond, Cove, Lewiston, Cornish, Trenton, Amalga, Clarkston, and Newton. North Logan, Hyde Park, and Smithfield are busy parts of the Logan metropalitan area. There are many business and shopping opportunities in these three communities. North of Smithfield the feeling changes to rural farm towns.

These comminities are located in the cache county school district. There are six elementary schools(K-5), two middle schools(6-7), one junior high(8-9), one high school(10-12), and one alternative high school throughout these communities.
The north end of the valley has infinite recreational oppurtunities. There are many small canyons in the mountains in these areas. These canyons are great for hiking, fishing, camping, fourwheeling, and hunting. It is also the home of Casper's Ice Cream. Located in Lewiston, Casper's is the home of the Fat Boy ice cream sandwich and the Casco Nut Sundae. Locals love to go to the factory's ice cream shop and enjoy a milk shake or sundae.
